No trip to the Middle East would be complete without experiencing the luxurious hospitality it is known for. While in Oman I had the opportunity to stay at the Chedi Muscat and I was blown away!

ABOUT THE CHEDI MUSCAT
Located in the heart of Muscat along its balmy coastline, and surrounded by lush palm trees and a private beach, The Chedi is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Designed in the modern middle eastern style, every part of the hotel simply oozes luxury and grandeur that is synonymous with the middle east. This secluded 21-acre property with a beachfront along with all the amenities that typically come with a 5-star property make this a great choice to stay.
In fact, in 2019 itself The Chedi Muscat won three awards: 1) the best fine dining for The Restaurant by Oman Restaurant Awards 2) Top 25 Hotels for Romance Middle East Award by Trip Advisor and 3) Muscat’s Most outstanding Luxury Hotel of the year by Global Luxury Hotel & Spa.
If that’s not enough, The Chedi’s claim to fame is one of its swimming pools, which happens to be the longest Swimming pool in all of the middle east.
THE ROOMS AT THE CHEDI MUSCAT
From all 158 rooms, you will either get the view of the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Oman or the perfectly manicured lush gardens overlooking the dramatic mountains that are just soothing to the eye and provide a sense of well-being and calm that instantly make all your worries disappear.
The rooms are modern and spacious with ample sunlight coming through. The suite that I stayed in also came with a living area, balcony, bedroom, and a luxuriously large bathroom and a well-stocked complimentary mini-bar! If indulgence is your thing, you will surely appreciate The Chedi.
All Deluxe Club Rooms, Deluxe Club Terrace Rooms, and Chedi Club Suites guests have exclusive access to The Club Lounge.
SWIMMING POOLS AT THE CHEDI MUSCAT
The Chedi Muscat boasts of not one but three amazing pools in the vast 21-acre property, all of which are carefully calibrated to maintain average water temperatures between a delightfully refreshing 28 – 30º C all year round.
1. The Long Pool
The Long Pool holds the current record of being the longest pool in all of the Middle East and is 103 meters long. Swimming a few laps here will definitely help you burn those vacation calories that the restaurants have indulged you in.
This pool is open to guests above 16 years of age only. You can sunbathe on the massive sunbeds and gorge on some yummy Japanese classics and modern twists on Asian dishes with loads of healthy options from the relaxing comfort of your lounger. This one was definitely my favorite.
2. The Chedi Pool
The Chedi Pool is an infinity pool overlooking the stunning shores of the Gulf of Oman. Here too, there are many shaded sunbeds and private cabanas surrounding the pool to keep everyone cool and comfortable, especially in peak summer. There is a special dining cabana area reserved only for hotel guests that serves freshly prepared Mediterranean and Asian dishes. This pool also welcomes guest above the age of 16 only.
3. The Serai Pool
Guests of all ages are welcomed here. This pool is well covered with plenty of shade to protect you from the afternoon sun and also has a restaurant with choicest of international favorites, all available from the comforts of your sun bed.
ACTIVITIES AT THE CHEDI MUSCAT
Once you’re done with all the relaxing in the pool, you could play a game of tennis on one of the two floodlit hardcourts or find inner peace in one of the yoga and/or Pilates classes they offer. For those who want to maintain their fitness regime or simply want to stay active during their stay, there is also a modern and well-equipped gym. Housed in a 700 sq. m Health Club, you’ll find experienced personal trainers, state-of-the-art gym equipment, free weights, and Pilates equipment.
The Chedi also houses one of the Muscat’s largest Spas that offers an extensive variety of beauty rituals based on the Asian-oriental holistic principles of aromatherapy, Ayurveda and herbalism.
DINING AT THE CHEDI MUSCAT
Six restaurants and two lounges at The Chedi Muscat encapsulate the culinary secrets and wines from around the world, with cuisine options spanning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East to Southeast Asia and India. The interiors, like the rest of the hotel, are modern with great attention to detail, highlighting the pride Omanis take in their culture.
Remember to make a reservation in advance at the restaurant you’d like to dine at beforehand, even if you’re an in-house guest or else you’ll miss getting a table. I wasn’t informed beforehand and had to dine at ‘The Restaurant’ twice.
THE VERDICT
In my opinion, The Chedi Muscat is a great spot to end a hectic road trip around Oman. If you are looking for some luxurious and secluded alone time with your partner, this a great resort for you! Although it has 158 rooms and the resort was fully booked, it didn’t seem crowded at all, especially since its spread over 21 acres.
Besides, it’s easily accessible and only a 20 mins drive from the airport. You have no excuse. If you’re pressed for time or on a budget, they even have a One-Day Pass where you can enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast at The Restaurant, a rejuvenating 60-minute Ancient Balinese Massage at The Spa, and access to the Long Pool or the beachfront Chedi Pool all for OMR 50 (USD 130) per person.
One way or the other, I must consider visiting The Chedi whenever you are in Muscat next.
